The thick, rounded leaves of lawyer's tongue emerge in opposing pairs stacked up a central stem, lending it an already novel aesthetic. When this growth form is combined with the unique coloration of its leaves, which are rich green with a creamy white margin and light green ‘stippling’ across the leaf surface, the result is exceptional. Reaching up to 20 inches tall and wide, courtesy of a tendency to readily offset, this specimen is equally at home on a windowsill or as part of a container arrangement.

While it can tolerate more shade than many succulent varieties, it will flush to a crimson hue on the tips of its leaves when exposed to more direct sunlight – which will also encourage the plant to copiously send up stalks of orange, pink, or even green blooms! Otherwise extremely low maintenance, all this succulent asks for is a thorough but infrequent watering routine, a well-draining pot, and a porous soil mixture within which to take root.

During the winter months, be sure to protect this South African native from freezing temperatures, which could otherwise result in permanent damage to the fleshy leaves.

If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
